Windows Event Viewer

Windows Event Viewer can be useful for diagnosing hardware errors. Some USB Hub connected sound and video cards may produce device driver errors under certian conditions such as rapidly starting and stopping media. The result can be a program freeze. These driver errors are only reported in Windows Event logs.

Opening the Event Viewer

There are multiple ways to open the Event Viewer.

• Click on the Windows Start button > Windows Administration Tools > Event Viewer.

• Click on the Windows Search button on the Windows Taskbar.
• In the search box, type Event Viewer.

• Open the Windows Control Panel.
• Click the Administrative Tools icon.
• On the resulting screen, click the Event Viewer icon.

Various views and logs are available by selecting them in the left hand panel. Search for Errors/Warnings reported in the logs. If the cause of an error message is not obvious, you can select the message text and copy it (Ctrl+C). Then paste it into an email to Support.
