Windows Media Player Options for CDs

Turn-On Windows Media Player (WMP)

REQUIRED - Sound Mill uses some Windows Media Player (WMP) Dlls to play files with the Media Player driver. So you will need to 'Turn-On' WMP which is an optional feature in Windows 11/10. It is likely already enabled in Windows 7/8. It only takes a few clicks to turn it on. Follow the instructions link below.


Determine if WMP is Already Turned On

Click Windows Start Menu > Windows Accessories folder. If Windows Media Player appears in the Accessories list, it is already turned on so you can skip this step.


'Turn-On' WMP Instructions

WMP Options for Internet CD Info

If you want to have song titles applied to CD tracks, you will need to enable these Options in WMP. These WMP options allow it to collect internet information for CDs. If these options are not enabled, WMP will not find CD Info related to your CD.


To open the WMP Options
  • Open WMP - Click Windows Start Menu > Windows Accessories > Windows Media Player.
  • Hold down the keyboard ALT key (opens the WMP menus), then click Tools > Options..

Player Options

Check the Connect to the Internet checkbox.

Library Options

Check the Reteieve additional information from the Internet checkbox.

Privacy Options

Check these checkboxes:

  • Display media information from the Internet.
  • Updates music files by retrieving media info from the Internet.
  • Store and display a list of recent/frequently played: Music, Videos, Pictures and Playlists.
